Since the introduction on the nation-wide lockdown and the closure of licensed venues, Shield Associates have been in consultation with NHS professionals and industry experts to try to identify the greatest threats and opportunities for licensed venues once the Lockdown restrictions are relaxed.
Although specific for licensed venues, Shield Associates have already provided advice and guidance for other businesses where the safety of staff and customers is a real concern. It is recognised that businesses will not return to normal for some time and Shield have looked to highlight the three main areas of concern that will need to be addressed by venues:
- Safety of staff and customers
- Complying with social distancing guidance
- Maintaining control of your environment
To this end we have identified a number of tactical options and protocols that aim to address the professional and governmental advice and to support venues to operate within the framework. These options include:
- Carrying out Covid-19 risk assessments for venues
- Controlling access and egress at your venue
- Introducing thermal scanning screening for customers/staff entering the venue
- Use of PPE by staff and disposal protocols in line with Health and Safety
- Social distancing protocols (including floor markings and one-way flow options)
- Health and Safety advice including reviewing maximum occupancy
- Creating safe drinking zones by changing seating plans and venue layouts
- Working with Pub-watch members to stagger leaving times, co-ordinate activity and share resources
- Introducing more frequent and effective deep cleans or work areas and cleaning and disinfecting objects and surfaces that are touched regularly
